1. Agreement

By using the Gig Worker Tax Calculator at gigworkertaxcalculator.com (the “site”), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

2. What the site is

The site is a free, browser-based calculator that produces an educational estimate of federal and state tax for self-employed gig workers. It is a planning tool. It is not tax, legal, accounting, or financial advice, and it is not a substitute for a filed tax return. See the Disclaimer, which forms part of these terms.

3. No professional relationship

Using this site does not create an accountant-client, adviser-client, fiduciary, or any other professional relationship between you and us. We are not acting as your tax preparer or representative before any tax authority.

4. Your responsibilities

• You are responsible for the accuracy of everything you enter. The estimate is only as good as the inputs.
• You are responsible for verifying any figure before you act on it, and for your own tax filings, payments and deadlines.
• You must not rely on the site as the sole basis for any tax decision.

5. Licence and permitted use

The site, its calculation engine, its source code, its rate tables, its written content and its design are the property of Gig Worker Tax Calculator and are protected by copyright. They are not open source.

You may:

• use the calculator for your own personal or business tax planning, free of charge, as often as you like;
• share a link to any page on this site, including a link that carries your state and year selection;
• quote a short extract of the written content with clear attribution and a link back to the source page.

You may not, without prior written permission:

• copy, mirror, clone, rehost or redeploy this calculator, in whole or in substantial part, on another domain or inside another product;
• extract, republish or redistribute the rate tables;
• reproduce substantial portions of the written content, including the state-by-state guides;
• frame the site, or present it in a way that suggests it is yours;
• remove or obscure copyright notices, or bypass technical protection measures;
• scrape the site at a volume that degrades it for other visitors;
• use the site for unlawful purposes, or attempt to introduce malicious code or interfere with its operation.

The rate tables are derived from publicly published government material, which is not itself our property. The compilation, structure and presentation of them in this site are.

6. Availability and changes

The site is provided free and on an “as available” basis. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of it at any time, including the calculator, without notice. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or that any particular tax year or jurisdiction will remain supported.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the site is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage of any kind arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, this site. That includes, without limitation: any tax liability, penalty, interest or assessment you incur; any decision you take in reliance on a figure the site produced; any error, omission, or out-of-date rate in the tables or content; any loss of data; and any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages.

Where a limitation of liability is not permitted in full, our total aggregate liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you paid to use the site (which is zero, because the site is free) or the minimum amount required by applicable law.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

8. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Gig Worker Tax Calculator against any claim, loss, liability or expense arising from your misuse of the site or your breach of these terms.

9. Governing law

These terms, and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them or the site, are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, United States of America, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any such dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in the State of Michigan.

Nothing in this section prevents you from bringing a claim in a court that has jurisdiction over the matter under the mandatory consumer-protection law of your own place of residence, where that law gives you the right to do so.

Company and product names mentioned on this site — including Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, Instacart, Amazon Flex and others — are the trademarks of their respective owners. They are used here only to describe the kinds of work the calculator supports. Their use does not imply any affiliation with, endorsement by, or sponsorship from those companies, and we are not connected with any of them.

11. Advertising

This site displays third-party advertising, which is how it is funded and kept free. The presence of an advertisement is not a recommendation, and we are not responsible for the content of any advertised third-party site or service. See the Privacy Policy for how advertising affects your data.

12. Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms. The revised version will be posted at this address with a new date at the top, and continued use of the site after that constitutes acceptance.

13. Severability

If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force, and the unenforceable provision will be replaced by one that most closely achieves its original intent.
